Entering its 40th summer of operation, the coeducational six-week (June 29-Aug 7) Summer Day School offers a wide range of academic and enrichment classes to students entering grades 6-12. We are currently accepting applications for a teacher of CHEMISTRY (High School Honors level). Interested candidates must have relevant teaching experience and a proven ability to work with motivated students.
The summer Chemistry course covers all the topics traditionally studied in a first-year, honors level, secondary school Chemistry course. Lab work is integrated throughout the course. Topics covered include Atomic Theory and Structure, Bonding, 3-D Shapes and Intermolecular Forces, Gas Laws, Thermodynamics, Stoichiometry, Acid and Bases, Equilibrium, Reaction Rates, Oxidation Reduction (Redox), and an introduction to Organic Chemistry.
