Description

With approximately 90 seniors each year, The Belmont Hill School seeks an experienced and enthusiastic Associate Director of College Counseling to begin in August of 2025. The Associate Director reports to the Director of College Counseling and is responsible for both supporting and administering the School’s College Counseling Curriculum. This is a 12-month administrative faculty position, though it is largely remote in the summer months. Other responsibilities, including advising, coaching, or teaching, are possible with the position. A Bachelor’s degree is required, 3-5 years of experience in high school college counseling, or college admission preferred. A Master’s degree is also preferred.

 

Specific Duties Include:

 

  • ​​Support and present Belmont Hill’s College Counseling Curriculum, actively working with up to 35 students and their families through all aspects of the college process, formally starting in the winter of junior year through enrollment in college in senior year;
  • Collaborate individually with juniors and seniors to assist them in setting realistic college search goals, crafting a balanced college list, and helping them execute their submission of applications;
  • Craft a comprehensive recommendation for each student in the senior caseload;
  • Help parents and families understand the college admissions landscape, including its influence on each student’s college admission candidacy;
  • Support hopeful recruited athletes through the athletic recruitment process, including facilitating communication with Belmont Hill coaches and students, as well as college admission officers and coaches;
  • Collaborate with Belmont Hill’s faculty and staff on various college-related issues and events, including some formal programming gradewide programming with 10th-grade students;
  • Remain current with college admission trends by attending national and regional conferences, visiting college campuses, and fostering communication with college admissions officers visiting Belmont Hill each year;
  • Commitment to working with students on financial aid as well as a subset of first-generation college-bound students; and
  • Serve as an academic advisor to a group of up to 8 seniors each year.

 

Belmont Hill School is a non-denominational school for boys in grades 7-12 situated on 29 acres in Belmont, MA, a suburb 20 minutes northwest of Boston. Primarily a day school, Belmont Hill also maintains a five-day boarding program for approximately 30 students in order to serve students from a broader geographic region.
